Graham did not want us making a fuss about his stepping back from the industry, but we felt we needed to say something to mark his long service to the industry.

After more than four decades of dedicated service to New Zealand’s imported motor vehicle industry, Graham Haworth and his family have made the decision to close the doors of Watson Haworth Motors, with trading ceasing on 31 March 2025.

Founded in May 1980, Watson Haworth Motors has been a 100% family-owned and operated business, specialising in high-quality imported vehicles and earning a reputation for reliability and integrity in the Waikato region and beyond. Graham Alexander Haworth, as director since the company’s inception, has been instrumental in guiding the business through the many changes and challenges that have shaped the industry over the years.

Graham was among the first to join the Imported Motor Vehicle Dealers Association (IMVDA), now known as VIA, the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association. His early and ongoing commitment to the association reflected his passion for raising standards and advocating for the interests of independent dealers across New Zealand. As the industry evolved-navigating regulatory changes, compliance requirements, and shifts in consumer demand-Graham and Watson Haworth Motors remained steadfast supporters of VIA’s mission and values.

Watson Haworth Motors became known not just for the vehicles it sold, but for the trust it built with generations of customers and the positive example it set for other dealers. The Haworth family’s hands-on approach and Graham’s leadership have left a lasting mark on the industry and the association.

On behalf of VIA and the wider motor vehicle community, we extend our sincere thanks to Graham Haworth and his family for their long-standing service, integrity, and support. We wish them all the best for the future and acknowledge the significant legacy they leave behind.
