For Andrew Cassin, Owner and Director of CO2X Limited, the Clean Car Standard isn’t just a policy; it’s the core of his business and a pressing concern for the import sector.

From his base in the Bombay Hills, Auckland, Andrew runs the country’s largest CCS credit trading operation by monthly transactions, buying and selling credits for importers nationwide.

His decision to join VIA comes from a desire to ensure the real-world impact of CCS is heard at the highest levels.

“I speak to many importers and compliance centres and see first-hand the financial hardship CCS is causing,” Andrew says. “We need to ask if this pain is really worth it.”

He values VIA’s role as a representative lobby that understands the complexities of government involvement and can influence decisions that affect the industry.

“Through my membership of VIA, I’m hoping to share insights from the front line, re-emphasising the need for fair and practical policy,” says Andrew.

Outside the business, Andrew has a unique personal history.

He is the youngest of 18 children, with his mother a Second World War Italian war bride to a New Zealand soldier. Life at home is shared with 11 dogs, who roam freely on the rural property and cool off in their private stream, a perfect spot to unwind.
